In Allandale, one of central Austin’s established mid-century neighborhoods, this modern limestone house sits among mature shade trees. ADLA Studio designed the landscape as a sequence of outdoor rooms, from the street to the back fence. Out front, weathered steel planters step along the lawn, filled with native bunch grasses, Mexican feathergrass and silver saw palmettos, and a row of Podocarpus stands against the limestone wall. A concrete paver walk leads to a gravel entry courtyard, where a single tree, a timber bench and cedar fencing make a quiet arrival. Behind the house, a long pool runs between a timber deck and the lawn to a limestone pool studio, with a fire table on the deck and an outdoor kitchen under a wood ceiling. Beyond the pool, off the primary bedroom, a grove of trees over gravel becomes a private garden retreat, with long timber benches, a stepping-stone path and lighting that carries it into the evening.
